Hello all, after driving my 940se 2.4 td manual very slowly in traffic for over 10 minutes it has had the habit of the tickover becoming irratic, it can increase to about 1200 rpm but some times drops away so much it can cut out. (not overheating)It is some times tempremental to start when hot but it always manages in the end. Any ideas would be appreciated. Best regards

Possibilities are usually related to the fuel supply or the air filter becoming clogged. The fuel supply may just bew down to the fuel filter needing replacement (every 60,000miles), injectors needing servicing (60,000 miles Bosch agent check and reset, 120,000 miles replace). Glow plug relay can sometimes cause this but more likely to be accelerator linkages getting gummed up or the cold start mixture thermostat (wax pellet) starting to go wrong. There should be references in the FAQs to these diesel faults. All the best and please keep us notified of your progress, it helps an awful lot, Peter. :car-smiley-031:
