Have had a 1996 440se for a few weeks and have noticed that when the weather is hot and the car has been running for 30 or so mins the steering makes a rubbing noise when there are no revs, i.e turnig down hill.....when it is being driven I hear nothing, when it is raining or colder I get no noise at all....steering does not lose performance..other than this great little car.. OH and there is an oil leak I haven't had time yet to look at......

Hi, Have you checked the power steering fluid levels? Have you tried bleeding the system of any possible air? Best look for a leak in the system (possibly) and for that other oil leak too.. :) Des. . . ;)

Also may be worth checking state and tension of drivebelt too. Matt
